Male SEND Teaching Assistant – Merthyr Tydfil

Contract: Full-time, long-term

Educare Recruitment are working closely with a special needs school in Merthyr Tydfil to recruit a dedicated Male SEND Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people with additional learning needs.

We’re looking for someone calm, patient, and proactive — a positive role model who can build strong relationships and provide consistent support both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND

• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

• Work closely with teaching staff to adapt learning materials and activities

• Support emotional and social development in a nurturing way

Requirements:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs (in a school or youth setting)

• Confident, empathetic, and resilient with a genuine passion for helping others

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

• EWC registration (or willingness to register)

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
